Situation is complicated in Turkey
The Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS) today hosted a debate over the Nagorno Karabakh conflict featuring representatives of foreign embassies.
None of the embassies of the OSCE Minsk Group member states showed up at the discussion. Only three countries - Italy, Germany and Syria, took an interest in the subject matter.
"Countries outside the OSCE Minsk Group display interest towards the Nagorno Karabakh Republic as they are also interested in the resolution of the conflict. Of course, it would be interesting if ambassadors of the OSCE Minsk Group countries also partook in the discussion," ACNIS Director Richard Giragosian told A1+.
Mr. Giragosian claims that the Karabakh conflict cannot be resolved without NKR's engagement in the talks.
Though there is no mention of the NKR in the Armenian-Turkish Protocols, the ACNIS Director is convinced that Turkey will continue to link the Karabakh conflict settlement with the Armenian-Turkish relations.
"Today Turkey faces problems connected with the ratification of the protocols. The situation is really complicated in the country," said Mr. Giragosian adding that the Armenian-Turkish border won't be reopened till March 2010.
