Gentleman's agreement violated
No other deputy excluded from the ranks of the Heritage Party, but Vartan Khachatran, intends to join some other party.
"We had reached a gentleman's agreement not to join the ranks of other parties. Our disappointment was so deep that we couldn't make a hasty decision," former Heritage member Zoya Tadevosyan told A1+ today.
She was surprised to see Vartan Khachatrain in the ranks of the Social Democratic Hunchakian Party. "To tell the truth, I didn't take the rumours seriously at first," she says.
About 150 excluded members established a socio-political initiative "People's Power."
"We have no leader. The work is distributed on equal footing and everyone has equal rights," says Mrs. Tadevosyan. "Life has shown that the fate of parties depends on a leader whom party members usually worship. But later, after they get disappointed with him, they appear in a sorry plight. To avoid such a clumsy situation we have decided to give everyone a chance to demonstrate their abilities and to remain faithful to the agreement signed between the initiative members."
Asked whether the People's Power will cooperate with the Armenian National Congress, Mrs. Tadevosyan said, "We shall support anyone who aims to bring radical changes in the country."
