The prospects of Kazakhstan's presidency in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe were discussed in Yerevan on Wednesday.

After assuming OSCE Presidency in 2010, Kazakhstan will give a new impetus to the resolution of the Karabakh conflict, Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan Sergey Kapinos said at the conference.

Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev is on good terms with  countries facing conflicts nowadays. Kazakhstan will have a crucial role in the maintenance of regional security.

The conference underlined that Kazakhstan is the first former USSR country assuming OSCE presidency. Besides, Kazakhstan is a Muslim country and has no geographical borders with Europe, which is an important factor for a country shouldering a great responsibility.

Kazakhstan also has a balanced relationship with the OSCE member countries.

"All these advantages will enable Kazakhstan to play a pivotal role in the OSCE," said the reporters.

"Kazakhstan has not undertaken to solve unrealistic issues. We do not prioritize the protection of the interests of the CIS countries only. We shall bring a new stimulus in the combat against new challenges. And we promise to record positive dynamics in collaboration," Kazakhstan's charge d'affaires in Armenia Nurbolat Alimbayev told the presentees.
