Let them read Ter-Petrosyan's speech thoroughly
Armenia's first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan's speech on the Armenian-Turkish Protocols at the Armenian National Congress (HAK) meeting found various interpretations among RA political forces. Some didn't understand it at all, others, in particular the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutiun considered it as a backup to Serzh Sargsyan.
"To understand the speech one simply needs to read it thoroughly," HAK senior representative Levon Zurabian told A1+.
Levon Zurabian considers Ter-Petrosian's speech as a distinct distribution of responsibilities.
"We don't want people (Robert Kocahrian, Vartan Oskanian and ARF-D) participating in the so-called Armenian-Turkish rapprochement to remain unpunished."
Asked how Robert Kocharian and Vartan Oskanian can bear responsibility, Mr. Zurabian said: "I mean political responsibility within the law. People must be informed of the authorities' misdeeds."
Levon Zurabian agrees with Vartan Oskanian that each regime should shoulder responsibility for its steps.
A question is raised in this respect. Why Robert Kocahrian and Vartan Oskanian made the Genocide issue the cornerstone of state policy and political bargain? Why did they enter into secret negotiations with Turkey? Why did they agree to set up a sub-commission of historians to study the massacres of 1915?
"We see no difference between Serzh Sargsyan, Robert Kocharian and Vartan Oskanian since they represent the same regime.
The previous authorities pushed Serzh Sargsyan against the wall. Sargsyan faced a dilemma - he was to end his power or realize their plot. Actually, today Serzh Sargsyan seeks legitimacy overseas since he doesn't enjoy public trust. Levon Ter-Petrosian suggests that Serzh Sargsyan seek legitimacy among his people and stop chase against them," said the HAK representative.
"'The Congress will take rough steps if the regime doesn't meet people halfway," added Levon Zurabian.
