Bill voted down
The National Assembly today voted against the motion of the Heritage Party on setting up an ad-hoc parliamentary committee to inquire into the events of March 1-2, 2008 and their consequences.
"The creation of a new interim committee doesn't aim to reject the work on the investigation of the events. A new committee is simply necessary to confirm once again what actually took place," said Larisa Alaverdian, the author of the bill.
Mrs. Alaverdian told A1+ that the consequences for the ten deaths and 220 injured people are still unknown.
The Heritage representatives tried to convince NA MPs that reference to the disputed events derives from the interests of the public and authorities.
Nevertheless, the bill was voted down with 71 cons, 25 pros and 3 abstentions.
