"I came to the conclusion that A/H1N1 flu virus resembles ordinary flu and spreads in the same way. People needn't panic. We are simply heating up the situation and making people rush to pharmacies," Armenia's chief epidemiologist Ara Asoyan told A1+.

Five more cases of A/H1N1 flu virus have been found in Armenia. Mr. Asoyan says the infected people are from the same family. The father spread the virus after returning from abroad. They were immediately taken to the Nork-Marash infection control hospital. Presently, they are under examination.

The chief epidemiologist is confident that more cases of A/H1N1 influenza will be revealed in Armenia in near future.

"Please, help people not to fly into a panic. Today we are witnessing a mass psychosis. Go to drugstores and you will find a shortage of elementary medication. People don't buy bread but they spend their last coins on medicine. Besides, the prices are unreasonably high for average citizens."

Two of the 11 infected people are Iranian citizens, one is a Turk and the others are Armenians. Three of them have already been discharged from hospital.
