Eyewitnesses who showed up to editor-in-chief of "Haykakan Zhamanak" daily Nikol Pashinyan's trial today gave their testimonies regarding the events of March 1, 2008.

Eyewitness Emma Gabrielyan had already testified on the "Case of Seven". In the wake of the 2008 presidential elections, Mrs. Gabrielyan was among those women who had organized a strike and funeral ceremony near the house of RA First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan. Gabrielyan said today in court:

"They told me to come and we will help you or give you something. They lied and gave me nothing."

The eyewitness on Pashinyan's trial informed the preliminary investigative body that she had heard the following from Pashinyan at the Myasnikyan statue on March 1: "Take rocks and fight until the end. Let's not go and wait for Ter-Petrosyan to come."

According to eyewitness Gabrielyan, she accidentally showed up at the Myasnikyan statue on March 1. "I was on my way to the church from Tokhmakh village. I passed by and saw people gathered there. They were taking out poles from the building under Pashinyan's command."

The next eyewitness, Ligia Mesropyan, told Pashinyan's advocates in advance: "Please, ask me questions that I responded to at the prosecutor's office. I could have not gone to the prosecutor's office either, but I went so that they wouldn't call me so often. I am not in good health condition and don't remember anything. I must say that I have not participated in the rallies because they didn't interest me and I didn't care what Nikol Pashinyan was saying." Why did you go to Myasnikyan statue? In response, Mesropyan said: "I liked Ter-Petrosyan's program very much and that's why I went."

Although the eyewitness said that she didn't remember anything, she did remember that there were many policemen gathered near the statue on March 1. "All the police were there so they wouldn't let anything bad happen" Eyewitness Mesropyan also told the court that she had given two testimonies on Pashinyan's case and 15 testimonies for the other case.

The other eyewitnesses didn't show up to court today. Pashinyan's next trial will be held on November 17 at 12 p.m.

Let us remind that Pashinyan is charged with Article 316 of the Criminal Code for the events of October 23, 2007 and Article 225 of the same code for the events of March 1.
