Swine flu case in Armenia?
"A swine flu case has been recorded in Armenia. To be honest, I trust our laboratory doctors. Our results showed positive and that means that a swine flu case has been recorded," Chief Virologist Ara Asoyan told "A1+".
Let us mention that the regional laboratory in London must send a response in a month and, according to Ara Asoyan, it is just to check.
There were 3 questionable cases of swine flu at the "Zvartnots" airport. The two Armenian passengers were coming from Moscow, while the other was an Iranian who had come from Dnepropetrovsk. The Iranian received treatment and was transferred out of the hospital, while the other two are still in treatment at the Infection Hospital in Nork.
"The youth are completely healthy and don't run the risk. The treatment lasts 5-6 days and I think that they will go home completely healthy on the fifth day," Ara Asoyan says.
The patients are in separate rooms and visits are forbidden. There are no limits on food.
According to Mr. Asoyan, the other passengers on the plane are under supervision. If the swine flu develops in the course of a week, the patient will be transferred to a hospital.
As far as the delay of the swine flu vaccine is concerned, Asoyan said that it is distributed by the World Health Organization and it is first given to the countries where there are registered cases. "But since there have already been registered cases, we will appeal to them to reconsider the deadlines," he said.
Although it was decided to send the vaccine to Armenia in November, the deadline has been extended and it will be in Armenia in mid-January.
According to the Chief Virologist, citizens must simply follow rules of hygiene in order to not get infected by the swine flu.
