"Passport and Visa Department made an illegal decision"
The opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) has issued a statement today which reads:
The RA Police Passport and Visa Department recently refused to give a certificate of permanent residence to jailed opposition activist and chief editor of Haykakan Zhamanak daily Nikol Pashinian. The HAK finds the decision illegal and groundless.
Obviously, the RA Police executed another order of the acting regime and violated Nikol Pashinian's constitutional right to register as a parliament candidate. This rough violation of the Armenian Constitution speaks of the regime's weakness and fear they are unable to overcome.
The Congress is sure of Nikol Pashinian's victory at Constituency 10.
The Congress will be consistent in the restoration of the rights of political prisoner Nikol Pashinian. We shall contest the decision of the RA Police Passport and Visa Department in the Administrative Court.
