"Opposition will triumph in the struggle"
After 2,5 months' time-out the Armenian National Congress (HAK) resumed its rallies on September 18.
HAK Coordinator Levon Zurabian was the first to address the crowd. He thanked HAK's proponents for warm reception and support.
"Congress has neared the victory. But we needn't hurry. We must weigh our actions to avoid mistakes," said Mr. Zurabian.
The HAK representative says the side having durable nerves will win the struggle. "Opposition will triumph as we are backed by people," announced Levon Zurabian.
Republican Party leader Aram Sargsian noted in his speech that the "moment has matured, people can no longer sit idle as the whole country is put at stake."
The Congress will soon start round-the-clock rallies, added Mr. Sargsian.
Leader of the People's Party of Armenia (HZhK), Stepan Demirtchian dwelt on home political affairs.
"The opposition is not against the frontier opening. We oppose to the border opening to the detriment of Armenia. In this context, I find the formation of a historians' sub-commission most dangerous. Turks try to bury "the Genocide issue" since they say it hampers normalization of bilateral relations. The frontier opening will not relieve Armenia's burden, either, since the country is governed by illegitimate authorities," said Stepan Demirchian.
Currently, Levon Ter-Petrosian is making a speech.
"Nothing has changed in the country during the past two months," observed Armenia's first President.
