Tigran Arakelian stops hunger strike
On September 12, detained opposition young activist Tigran Arakelian stopped the hunger strike because of serious health problems. He was immediately put under doctor's observation.
Doctors say Tigran must be taken to a city hospital for a further diagnosis as the Hospital for Convicts lacks the necessary apparatuses.
Advocate Varduhy Elbakyan says her defendant stopped the hunger strike as he realized that "everything is turned upside down in this country."
"Neither the Human Rights Defender's Office, nor the Red Cross visited Tigran Arakelyan. No one seems to care for the boys' health condition."
Tigran Arakelian will stay in hospital until his final recovery.
Tigran Arakelian faces up a prison sentence for allegedly assaulting a police officer in the city center while publicizing a rally held by the Armenian National Congress (HAK).
He is charged under Article 285 (hooliganism) of the Armenian Criminal Code.
