We shall lose our country because of oligarchs
"In order to survive a country must serve the interests of 100 000 people and not 10 000," Armenia's former Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan said to A1+.
"Armenians have lost their country four times because of oligarchs. In 1920 people like Hamazasp destroyed out country. In 1045 the Ani Kingdom of Gagik II fell because of oligarchs."
Mr. Bagratyan fears lest Armenia should be destroyed by 10-12 oligarchs.
Armenia's ex MP explains the existence of oligarchs in Armenia in the following way: "If 100 000 people had small or medium-sized businesses in Armenia, they wouldn't take a bribe of 5-10 000 drams. So, people have to live in miserable conditions to beg 5-10 000 drams during elections. Willingly or unwillingly, the authorities become the genetic enemy of small and medium-sized businesses," said Mr. Bagratyan.
"Only 15 factories out of 40-50 000 enterprises are working in Armenia today. The situation is really sorrowful," concluded the ex PM.
