Land Defenders’ administration in Artsakh
The Volunteer Land Defenders' Union paid a visit to the Nagorno-Karabakh republic and the liberated territories.
Former Deputy Defense Ministers, General-Lieutenant Manvel Grigoryan as president of the Union of Land Defenders, General Artur Aghabekyan as member of the LDU board, former Commander of the 2nd army corpus, General Seyran Saroyan and many other members of the union are currently in the Martakert region.
The visit of the LDU was a pilgrimage that has been held every year on the week preceding September 1st since the end of the war. They are touring all residencies of the Hadrut region, handing out backpacks, stationery to schoolchildren and home appliances to village heads.
This year the visit is in a different atmosphere as people of Karabakh are afraid of handing territories and the frequent statements on dislocating the Armenian forces from the liberated lands.
Artur Aghabekyan is from Hadrut and had this to say about the safety zone and the residents living in that territory: "There are residents who don't imagine what a solution that goes against their interests is and those who get scared every time they hear that there may be a resolution of the Artsakh conflict soon. These people may stop sowing the seeds after hearing such news. I must say that the liberated territories are also the guarantee for the economic security of Artsakh. Those territories were the basis of Artsakh's economy in the years of the Soviet Union and it is like that today."
