Advocates put forth their demands
Advocates of opposition "Haykakan Zhamanak" newspaper editor Nikol Pashinyan asked the pre-trial body for another 10 days to get acquainted with the 15-volume criminal case filed against their defendant.
The twenty days given by the pre-trial body to Pashinyan's advocates expires on August 26.
The advocates don't know which court will be entrusted with the case. Nor do they know the name of the judge.
Advocate Surik Muradyan informed A1+ that the advocates had applied to the Human Rights Ombudsman and the Council of Justice with a demand to call to account Nelson Zakaryan, head of Yerevan-Kentron Penitentiary Institution, for his illegal steps. In particular, Nelson Zakaryan recently refused to give newspapers to Nikol Pashinyan.
Remind that prominent opposition figure Nikol Pashinyan was jailed earlier in July, 2009, in connection with the March 1, 2008 events shortly after turning himself in to law-enforcers. He is charged with Article 225 of the Armenian Penal Code (calls for disorder) and Article 316 (resistance towards a government representative).
