Meeting with Kapinos
On July 21 Chairman of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan received Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan, Ambassador Sergey Kapinos.
Welcoming the guest, the NA Chairman stressed the importance of activities of the OSCE Office in Yerevan and the Memorandum of Cooperation signed by the RA National Assembly and the OSCE Office in Yerevan on April 15.
Abrahamyan also praised the contribution of the OSCE Office in Yerevan and other executive structures in completing the assignments and separated the programs implemented by the office in strengthening economic security in the country.
The sides discussed and reached agreements on improving the legislative field in Armenia and the steps to be taken to make it correspond to European standards. They shared the view that the Council of Europe's Venice Commission and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE-ODIHR) plays a huge role in that. In that context, the interlocutors discussed freedom of belief and conscience, press and speech, as well as regulation of the spheres of television and radio.
Mr. Abrahamyan and Ambassador Kapinos also discussed in detail the programs for developing and strengthening the professional capabilities of Armenian parliamentarians within the framework of the OSCE-RA National Assembly collaboration.
