Nationalists set their demands
The Armenian Aryan Union demands that the Armenian authorities withdraw from the negotiations and resign. The Union has issued a statement today which says:
"The so called "Madrid Principles" of the Artsakh issue the Armenian authorities are said to have agreed upon are fully inadmissible.
The territories surrounding Nagorno Karabakh controlled by Armenian troops for many years are not liable to surrender as they are an indispensible part of the Republic of Armenia.
No one has a right to alienate an acre of land including the acting authorities and the Armenian people. [We still have territories to liberate]. It is treachery to the Armenian spirit, Armenian History, our past and future. Our country tasted the fruits of treachery long ago.
The other five points are also inadmissible, especially the last one which speaks of "international security guarantees."
The only irreplaceable guarantee for the Armenians is Armenian collective potential and, in the first place, Armenian Armed Forces which won toughest battles liberating an ounce of our Fatherland. Now they want to bereave the territories from us promising international security guarantees which are well known to us.
And why doesn't Turkey withdraw its troops from Cyprus and change Turkish armed forces with the alleged "international guarantees"?
We advise the countries trying to dull us with their "peacekeeping forces" and "international guarantees" to stop their treacherous activities as the Armenians will never accept them.
And if they try to bind them to us they will have to shoulder the whole responsibility of unpredicted consequences.
We demand that the Armenian authorities withdraw from the negotiations and think of an immediate resettlement of the liberated territories otherwise they will have to resign and conduct a fair election in the country. We are confident that the new authorities will address all issues including that of Artsakh.
We say no to defeatism. We shall welcome the authorities whose stance doesn't contradict the vital and natural interests of the Armenian people and we shall fully support them."
