Republican MP Sukias Avetisian is under the impression that the released political prisoners made anti-constitutional calls during yesterday's rally.

"I don't understand what they mean by saying they will struggle till the end. And where is the end? Let everyone solve their problems in a constitutional way," Mr. Avetisian said at the Hayeli Club today.

His opponent, member of the People's Party of Armenia (HZhK) Ruzan Khachatrian asked in reply: "Did you expect them [political prisoners] to crawl to you for mercy." It turns out that only the opposition should observe the Constitution and its norms while the authorities violate the Constitution at every step starting from elections to rallies. They even beat youngsters distributing flyers on rallies."

A1+ reminded Mr. Sukias Avetisian that the opposition had been banned to televise ads about rallies and wondered what other means of notification it could use.

"Who said that distribution of flyers is banned?" wondered Mr. Avetisian.

"And who said that flyer distributors must be beaten?" asked Ruzan Khachatrian.

The HHK MP laid their faults and the responsibility of rigged elections on the opposition saying the opposition started election tampering in 1996. "The Republican Party of Armenia bears full responsibility for its past and present actions," HZhK member Ruzan Khachatrian answered her opponent.

A1+ wondered whether the authorities fear from the public since they bring troops to the capital before each rally.

Mr. Avetisian replied that the troops are brought for our citizens to walk calmly in capital streets and to avert the repetition of March 1-2 deadly clashes.

After A1+ noted that the transport to Yerevan is usually cut on the days of rallies, the HHK member said: "I drive to Yerevan from Gyumri every day and I always come across policemen on my way. There is nothing strange in it. The question had better be addressed to relevant organizations or the Ministry of Transport."

"The administration says one thing and does the other," said Mrs. Khachatrian hinting at NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamian's visit to Strasbourg.

"The society witnesses no changes in the country. The methods spread worldwide are not audible for our authorities," she added.

Sukias Avetisian advised taking the constitutional path and waiting for the next elections. "Thank you for the advice. It didn't occur to us," answered Ruzan Khachatrian and added that the country would face a special election.
