Armenia is waiting for Turkey's steps
"We highly assess the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and fully support the Karabakh conflict resolution," OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis said in Yerevan on July 3.
Mrs. Dora Bakoyannis thinks the upcoming Moscow meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents will be a step forward. "We must spare no effort to preserve human lives."
During a joint press conference with the Armenian FM, Mrs. Bakoyannis welcomed the recent dialogue between Armenia and Turkey assessing it as "most delicate and touchy."
She noted that Greece also continues negotiations with Turkey over Cyprus and hopes they would be able to find the best solution.
A Greek journalist asked Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian whether the Armenian Genocide of 1915 would not hinder the further development of Armenian-Turkish relations.
"Besides a dialogue, we have also started serious negotiations with Turkey. The negotiations started last September and already in spring we made some agreements to normalize bilateral relations without preconditions. You know that Turkey used to set preconditions before us. And here we made arrangements to better relations and open the borders without any prerequisites," answered Mr. Nalbandian.
Edward Nalbandian welcomed Turkish FM's statement that Armenia is committed to the reached agreements.
"I can only salute my Turkish counterpart for his statement. We have agreed with Turkey to open the borders between the two countries without any preconditions. We are waiting for Turkey to take practical steps."
