Levon Ter-Petrosyan's speech at the July 2 Rally
"Dear fellow Armenians,
As you all remember, after scheduling our next rally for September 18, we promised to organize rallies and other events in case of need. Today's rally is one of those rallies and the occasion is the release of many of the political prisoners.
This is truly a notable event that the people had to respond to and appreciate. Proof of that was the infinite enthusiasm that went on for days at the Saryan Square.
Today's rally is yet another opportunity to show that enthusiasm and to give a rational evaluation. Although we are in a festive atmosphere, I would like us all to not give in to our sentiments, try not to step out of the frame of political analyses and touch upon all the facts of the issue one by one."
Near the end of his speech, Levon Ter-Petrosyan also mentioned that serious developments are expected in the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and that may compel the Armenian National Congress to hold another special rally.
