"Unpleasant Air" goes to Public TV
Support A1+!Armenia's Public Television (H1) received the first prize of "Unpleasant Air" nomination.
The Initiator of "Unpleasant Air" annual nomination and head of the "Union of Experts" Organization Narek Malian says the award will solemnly be handed to the TV Company which was absent at today's ceremony.
Mr. Malian didn't detail on which criteria the Company was chosen. He refrained from giving details though the nomination had been open. He said the jury had decided not to give any names.
Before the nomination the sphere of television had been monitored for two months. Numerous violations and drawbacks were detected especially in the length of ads and maintenance of Mother Tongue. For instance, some ads were of 40-minute duration which is a rough breach of the corresponding law. "The imperfect Law on Television and Radio has been breached," underlined Narek Malian. "In the result, the rights of viewers were violated, too."
Though the Public Television possesses great financial means and gets subsidies, it doesn't attempt to regulate the quality of broadcast," notes Mr. Malian.
The latter says his family doesn't watch a few TV Channels including the Public TV. He would like his children to watch Hairenik TV which observers all moral criteria.
To get rid of the "unpleasant" air Narek Malian suggests boycotting against TV Companies, bringing legislative amendments to regulate the sphere and defining certain moral norms by the representatives of the sphere.
