They want to get rid of A1+
President of Yerevan Press Club Boris Navasardian thinks that no reference will be made to A1+ in PACE's next resolution.
"Generally, final resolutions are milder than projects," says Mr. Navasardian.
Note that the proposal to remove A1+ from the resolution was made by the head of Armenian delegation to the PACE David Harutiunian.
The latter said: "Our proposal refers to the fact that the verdict of the European Court has nothing to do with the broadcasting tender. What we are suggesting is to keep the demand to not delay the broadcasting tender and take out the part that directly relates to "A1+". Our main commitment is to hold an open and transparent tender and has nothing to do with any television station.
Mr. Navasardian thinks that removing the issue from the PACE resolution will not settle the problem of mass media.
"A1+'s issue is the toughest one raised by different organizations before the Armenian authorities and obviously the authorities want to get rid of this burden. Using the opportunity that the Co-Rapporteurs made a comparatively milder report on Armenia our authorities want to cast off A1+'s chains and breathe a sigh of relief," added Mr. Navasardian.
The YPC President thinks that everyone who struggles for freedom of speech in Armenia should struggle against the authorities. "Unlike the Council of Europe, we shall no draw back from our approaches and principals. We shall raise the same issues before our authorities. "
