Leader of the Marxist Party David Hakobian sent a letter to the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Garegin Azaryan in which he voiced readiness to serve the interests of Yerevan.

"I am ready to take up the duties of an alderman for the sake of our country and our people," said Mr. Hakobian.

Remind that the Armenian National Congress (HAK) received 13 mandates as a result of the Yerevan municipal elections but immediately renounced all of them. David Hakobian was the 22nd on HAK's list.

CEC Chairman Garegin Azaryan detailed the application to journalists today. He explained the cases which enable the Marxist Leader to get a mandate.

"If an alderman doesn't attend most sittings of the Elders' Council or doesn't participate in a voting his duties can be suspended. In this case we shall get a decision by the Elder's Council on suspending the alderman's liabilities and passing the mandate to the next candidate on the party list," said Mr. Azaryan.
