"Amnesty doesn't cover Sasun Mikaelyan," Minister of Justice Gevorg Danielian announced at the National Assembly today when presenting the drafted amnesty at the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs.

The Minister says the amnesty will cover some 2000 convicts and will be executed by September 30. It will be unprecedented in size.

Upon MP Victor Dallakian's request the Minister enumerated all detainees under the March 1 unrest liable to an amnesty. "It will cover Miasnik Malkhasian, Hakob Hakobian, Gagik Jhangirian, Smbat Aivazian, Khachatur Sukiasian if the latter turns up," Mr. Dallakian told A1+.

MP Zaruhy Postanjian has made a list of people prosecuted for their political views. The list includes 51 people but about 15 of them will not be granted an amnesty.

Amnesty will not cover Sasun Miakelian, Mushegh Saghatelian, Hayk Gevorgian, Mkrtich Safeyan, Jora Safeyan, Harutiun Urutian, Shmavon Galstian, Vanush Davtian, Ara Hovhannisian, Aram Ghahramanian, Armen Khurshudian, Gabriel Gevorgian, Felix Gevorgian and Vrej Nikoyan charged under Articles 235 (part 2), 258(parts 4 and 112), 260 and 316 (part 2), said Mrs. Postanjian.

With regard to Alexander Arzumanian, Suren Sirunian and Grigor Voskerchian, Mrs. Postanjian said: "I have a fear and I came up with a proposal to grant an amnesty to all detainees charged under the March 1-2 deadly clashes regardless of court verdicts. For instance, if someone is charged under Article 225 of the Penal Code, he won't get an amnesty; simply the term of sentence will be reduced."
