Interested in amnesty
RA Ombudsman Armen Harutyunyan received Co-rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee John Prescott and Georges Colombier.
The issues raised by the Co-rapporteurs referred to amnesty and witnesses involved in the cases in relation to the events of March 1, as well as the Fact-Finding Group.
Armen Harutyunyan presented his position on amnesty, stating that amnesty must be spread to the public at large, including all citizens deprived of their liberty on March 1; otherwise, the amnesty will not have a positive effect on forming solidarity.
Discussing the issues related to the eyewitnesses, the Ombudsman noted that he had talked about that 7-8 months ago and had stated that he had received complaints about application of force against eyewitnesses, but the Special Investigative Service and the Prosecutor General's Office have not paid attention to the notices and eyewitnesses still deny their testimonies in courts.
Chief of staff of the Ombudsman's Office Vahe Stepanyan presented the Co-rapporteurs with his position on the Fact-Finding Group, as reported by the Ombudsman's office.
