HAK rallies thousands near the Matenadaran
The opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) today concluded its election campaign with a rally near the Matenadaran.
The opening ceremony was trusted to "Mher Manukyan" rock group which performed songs authored by Nikol Pashinyan.
All opposition leaders can be seen on the platform. HAK's candidate for Yerevan's Mayor, Levon Ter-Petrosyan welcomed the ralliers.
Although the routes to the capital are largely blocked by the police, many people have arrived at the opposition's rally.
They say the election is of great importance for them as all issues are settled in Yerevan, hence, the election covers the whole country. The ralliers think the mayoral election will bring about serious changes in Yerevan City.
Today's rally was attended by political prisoner David Aghayan, the grandson of Armenia's prominent faretale writer Ghazaros Aghayan. David Aghayan was released ten days ago.
Like all political prisoners, David Aghayan finds today's rally most important.
David Aghayan says he has come to be convinced that "people haven't given up. Today I have a chance to see everything I longed for in jail. I am determined to struggle till the end regardless of all methods the authorities might apply against me."
Note that David Aghayan was jailed on groundless accusation.
