Screaming prohibited at Sardarapat
The entrance of the Sardarapat memorial was surrounded by policemen today.
The policemen dressed for the celebration with mild faces prohibited ANC supporters from screaming "Levon, president", "Freedom" or other slogans.
The police even prohibited cars from approaching the area near the memorial. It turned out that Serzh Sargsyan, National Assembly chairman Hovik Abrahamyan and Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan were at the memorial.
ANC leaders Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Stepan Demirchyan, Aram Sargsyan and others were greeted by their supporters at the entrance and moved towards the memorial to pay tribute to the heroes of Sardarapat and lay their flowers.
The opposition leaders toured the memorial and talked with their supporters. Some youth members disobeyed the police and started screaming "Levon, president".
The government cars were parked near the memorial when the ANC leaders arrived, yet we did not see them anywhere.
Unlike previous years, this year's 91st anniversary of Sardarapat was not too huge. Small traders at the Sardarapat memorial were also complaining about sales.
Government offficials left quickly after the ANC leaders and supporters had gone.
