Republican Tigran Arzakantsyan on tax reforms
"To be honest, I am not aware of the beatings. I was out of town for personal reasons," NA Deputy, Republican Tigran Arzakantsyan told "A1+" as he touched upon the conflicts between the Republican and "Prosperous Armenia" parties.
Mr. Arzakantsyan is concerned over the package of reforms presented to the government on the taxing legislation, which is an attempt for complete government control of business.
"This package is incomplete. From the way I see it, there is a lot to be done. There is a different way to control producers and that is to follow the experience of other countries and not say that those who produce spirits are hiding them. I am one of the owners of those organizations and 98% of our products are exported," said Arzakantsyan, who says that the government doesn't realize the effects of its initiative.
"As if the current economic crisis wasn't enough, now we want to create a crisis for ourselves. Besides, how will investors look at this? Do they recognize us as thieves and people who hide taxes? That's not the way."
What issue is the government trying to solve? In response to this, Arzakantsyan said that in his opinion, the government is trying to get taxes from companies that refrain from paying them, but it would be better for the tax inspectors to meet and solve this issue among them, instead of creating the wrong impression in the country. Tigran Arzakantsyan believes that the change may also impede development of local production.
Mr. Arzakantsyan assured that he is not concerned for his personal issues or business, but all businessmen. He told "A1+" that 98% of NA Deputies are against the package presented to the government and that they all want to negotiate with the government to pass a normal law.
Discussions on the package will continue today at the National Assembly
