New guests at President's residence
Residents of Nor Nork's Hostel N2 staged a protest action in front of the President's residence on May 11. But they were banned to group in front of the building and were driven to the opposite street.
The protesters set three demands-to annul rental payments, privatize their places and fix the rooms.
"We don't want to pay the rents. We are sick and tired of our living conditions. Our place has turned into a hospital: bed is laid throughout the room. Refuges are provided with everything they need. I have nothing against, but let them care for us as well," said one of the hostel inhabitants, Sona Zakaryan.
"Our five-member family lives in a small room. My son has recently returned from the army and now stays with us. How can people of different sexes live in the same room?" wondered Laura Grigoryan.
The protesters have repeatedly turned to the government but all their applications have been turned down. "There are vacant rooms in the hostel but they are not given to us," they said.
