Existence of political prisoners highlighted
On April 21, the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) held discussions on the EU Eastern partnership.
During the meeting, the representative of the central office of the Armenian National Congress (HAK), David Shahnazaryan made a speech on axis questions of the home and foreign policy of Armenia.
He stressed the government's repressions of civil rights, violations of human rights, the presence of 55 political prisoners, rigging of the 2008 presidential election and the chase against opposition supporters.
One of the key issues of the discussions following Mr. Shahnazaryan's speech was the perspectives for the normalisation of Armenian-Turkish relations, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement and Armenia-EU cooperation, reports HAK's press service.
