Journalist to be sentenced?
What remained unclear today was whether the criminal case brought up against "Chorort Ishkhanutyun" journalist Gohar Veziryan would be quashed or not.
The journalist is charged with disrespectful behavior towards the court.
During the trial of member of political council of the "Republic" party Smbat Ayvazyan, according to testimonies of witnesses during inquiries, Gohar Veziryan called Judge Gagik Avetisyan a schizophrenic and meek. However, those words are not heard in the recording. According to Gohar Veziryan, she found the words in the newspaper, but the bailiffs say that Veziryan said them in court.
During yesterday's trial defendant Hovik Arsenyan filed a petition asking the court to put an end to the criminal persecution since there is no criminal gang.
Accuser Levon Charkhifalakyan asked the judge for time to think, but he hadn't shown up to court today and did not inform the judge about that.
Four bailiffs and secretary of the trials will be prosecuted in court as witnesses.
Judge Gagik Poghosyan decided to postpone the trial and set the date for the next one on April 10 at 4:30 p.m.
Gohar Veziryan was charged with the 3rd part of Article 343 of the Criminal Code, which foresees a cut of minimum wage by 300 or 2-3 months in jail.
