Upon the instructions of Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan all employees of the City Hall were given "100-perecent lists" to be filled up in favour of the acting mayor, Republican (HHK) candidate for the May 31 mayoral election Gagik Beglaryan. The information was given by a City Hall employee.

"Moreover, we have been threatened to be fired in case we don't provide our passport data," added the City Hall employee who didn't want to give his name for certain reasons.

The employees were also instructed to ensure maximum votes for the Republican candidate.  "We won't be paid for the work," he says.

Note that two days ago, after A1+ signaled about the "circulated 100-percent lists," HHK Spokesman and Armenian parliamentarian Edward Sharmazanov said:

"I think the rumours about the alleged lists are fabricated and are directed against the Republican Party. This is simply black PR against the party. It is no use marring somebody without introducing weighty evidence. Similarly, someone could knock at the doors and introduce himself as a HHK representative and ask inhabitants to vote for Gagik Beglaryan."

Today we again telephoned Mr. Sharmazanov. "The Republican Party has always advocated and advocates the conduct of free and fair elections. The party will start the campaign on March 2 as is set by law. I have nothing more to say," said Edward Sharmazanov.

"The City Hall is a state body and you had better address your questions to them," advised the HHK Spokesman.

When reminded that Gagik Beglaryan has been nominated by the HHK and tops the HHK's electoral list, Edward Sharmazanov said: "Anyway, you had better make inquiries from the City Hall. We haven't launched a campaign yet. Any illegal and uncivilized method or campaign can be appealed in a court."

Asked whether people should be warned against "provocateurs working in favour of the HHK candidate" Edward Sharmazanov didn't answer.

When asked the same question, the City Hall Spokeswoman Anjella Martirosyan said: "I cannot call them provocateurs but I can say one thing for sure: the rumours do not correspond to reality."
