Parties don't sit idle
Representatives of a pre-election office of Armenia's Republican Party (HHK) have started looking in on Yerevan citizens. The visits are aimed at securing votes for the HHK candidate Gagik Beglaryan during the May 11 election of the Council of Elders.
"Recently a fellow dropped in and wondered whether we are going to vote for Beglaryan. After getting a negative answer he offered me money provided that I told him our passport data. I immediately showed him the door" says Yerevan civilian Lilit Harutyunyan.
The HHK representative who visited all flats of the building says he was unable to persuade the residents.
"This is a way of earning money. I knock at the doors and ask for passport data after becoming convinced that the dwellers will vote for Gagik Beglaryan. I wonder whether they are Beglaryan's adherents. If not, I offer them money," said the HHK representative who didn't want to give his name.
He confesses that his work is very difficult and tiresome.
"People get furious after hearing the name of the Republican Party. Some didn't want to let me in, others neat me after I offered them money. I was recruited during the presidential and parliamentary elections as well but then I didn't encounter such problems."
According to our verified sources, the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) also began data collection.
