Will the lawyer be punished?
Stepan Voskanyan, lawyer of defendant Grigor Voskerchyan charged with the "case of seven," missed today's court hearing. He is attending another trial in Georgia.
The prosecutor in the case, Koryun Piloyan, accused Voskanyan of deliberately missing the trials. Koryun Piloyan says the lawyer left for Georgia at 7:30 today morning. He motioned the court to take drastic measures against the lawyer for contempt of the court and attempts to intentionally suspend the trial. Under the acting law a sanction can be imposed on a lawyer after three flippant absences.
Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan has announced a recess of 20 minutes to consider the motion.
