Devaluation of dram benefits Tsarukyan
Leader of the National Assembly "Prosperous Armenia" faction, businessman Gagik Tsarukyan believes that the sharp fall of the dram benefits exporters but hits importers hard.
"In the past couple of years businessmen exporting goods were hit hard by the evaluation of the dram. Now things are looking good, while importers are facing difficulties," said the NA Deputy during a press conference.
But the press conference at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Issues was for a different occasion. Before the conference, Gagik Tsarukyan and Director General of the "VivaCell-MTS" Ralph Yerikyan signed a contract according to which the mobile phone operator agreed to become the official sponsor of the Armenian Olympic Committee.
In 2009, the "VivaCell-MTS" will grant 100 million drams to the AOC for development of Olympic sports in Armenia.
"We believe in the abilities and future of our athletes. As we see our athletes competing in the international arena, we feel a huge sense of pride and this stimulates not only the company, but also all Armenians," said Ralph Yerikyan.
President of the Armenian Olympic Committee Gagik Tsarukyan did not answer any questions on sports.
Journalists were particularly interested in knowing whether Naira Zohrabyan and Aram Isabekyan will head the list of the Prosperous Armenia party in the Yerevan mayor elections. In response to that, Tsarukyan simply said: "Neither of the two."
