DON’T WANT THE CASHBOX COUNTERS/VIDEO/

Social

“Damn those cashbox counters”, “Prime Minister, Prime Minister”-screamed fair workers of Yerevan today in front of the government building on the day of the government sitting. The workers refuse to work with the cashbox counters and want to pay a fixed amount.

“We refuse to work with the cashbox counters because we don’t know what taxes to pay. Besides that, we stand on the streets all day long, freeze and only get to pay 4,000 drams a day. We’re not able to hire an accountant,” said trader at the Gnuni construction material market Arshak Ghazaryan.

Workers of fairs from all parts of the city note that they can’t install the cashbox counter because they only get the difference in the cost of the product. Sellers also noted that they have taken loans from different places and don’t know how they are going to pay them off.

Government official Alexander Ghazaryan came to hear what the protesters had to say. But the protesters didn’t really believe him and said that he is simply wasting time. After that, Alexander Ghazaryan called a couple of the protesters to the hall, but they weren’t able to get into a conversation there either. Alexander Ghazaryan said that all issues can be cleared up. As far as the cashbox counters are concerned, they will be installed and people will have to work with them. The protesters said that they wanted to meet the law-enforcement authority to answer their questions.

Vice-director of the “Vagharsh and Sons” company Armen Baghdasaryan said that the people just want clarification and a low tariff plan. Demonstrators weren’t satisfied with that and went back to stand in front of the government building with the desire to see the prime minister.

The people who lost their homes for state needs were also standing in front of the government building. They were also joined by residents of Nar-Dos Street who are on the verge of being thrown out of their houses as well. The residents note that the government has not given them much and it is not enough to buy even a one-bedroom apartment. The parents of soldiers who died in the Armenian military units were also in front of the building holding pictures of their sons.
