OPPOSITION PAPERS SELL THE MOST

Social

Opposition papers were the best-selling papers during the final months of last year and continue to be the best-selling in the first month of this year. This is what “A1+” found out after taking a survey among newspaper sellers.

“People buy opposition newspapers the most because there is nothing to read in the rest of the papers. I myself read only opposition papers,” said newspaper seller Andranik.

Another seller Ashot said that the increase of readers is due to the false information broadcasted on television.

Sellers noted that “Hraparak”, “Zhamanak Yerevan” and “Pakagits” sell the most, while sales are down for “Azg”, “Novoye Vremya” and “Golos Armenii”.

Sellers also mention that they know their customers and keep the newspapers for them very often.

“A1+” took a couple of small surveys from citizens to find out whether they buy newspapers and which ones.

“I prefer to buy the newspapers where I can find true information about the political situation and the global economic crisis. I never listen to news on television because they lie. They tell us that everything is fine and there is no need to worry,” said Hakob Shamlyan who is a geologist by profession.

Pensioner Khachik Tumasyan said that he is not able to purchase newspapers because he can buy bread with that money. But he has found an interesting solution-he asks the sellers to loan him the papers and brings them back after he finishes reading them.
