LITHUANIAN MEETINGS IN ARMENIA

RA Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan has received today Gediminas Kirkilas, the National Defense Minister of the Mithuanian Republic. The sides have referred to several international and regional issues.

Vardan Oskanyan has presented to the Lithuanian Defense Minister the present state of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement. Mentioning that the conflict cannot have a military solution, concern was expressed about the frequent violations of armistice at the Armenian-Azerbaijani armed forces contact-line lately.

During the meeting with Gediminas Kirkilas the RA Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan has mentioned that the possibilities of mutual cooperation must be used more efficiently. Taking into account that in 2004 Lithuania enter the EU, and Armenia has been included into the “European Neighborhood policy”, the Prime Minister has voiced hope that thanks to all this, more possibilities are created to build our relations with the European countries at a higher level, and to develop the Armenian-Lithuanian political, economical and military cooperation within the European framework.

Andranik Margaryan and Gediminas Kirkilas have found the cooperation between Armenia and Lithuania important, especially within the framework of the military improvements and the NATO program ”Cooperation for the Sake of Peace”.
