“MATAGHIS” CASE WASN’T QUASHED

Politics

The trial of the “Mataghis” case continued today in the Northern Criminal Court without the attorney of culprits Razmik Sargsyan, Arayik Chalyan and Musa Serobyan. Arayik Zalyan presented an appeal on behalf of all the defendants demanding the court to quash the criminal case. The defendants believe that the trial at the Northern Criminal Court violates their right to a fair trial. The basis for the appeal is that the “Constitutional Court has acknowledged the provisions foreseeing the inquiry of the Criminal-Trial code as contradicting and invalid and by sending it to a new investigation, the court is no longer impartial and is committing actions that are incompatible with its functions.” The accuser and the legal representative of the injured Arthur Yeghiazaryan objected the appeal and considered it unfounded. The court rejected the appeal and reasoned that the decision of the Constitutional Court was made after sending it for preliminary investigation. The session was postponed to February 6.
