THE LAW JUST CHANGED THE FINE
Support A1+!Serzh Sargsyan ratified the laws on “State fine” and “Licensing”, but the laws will be in effect after official notice. With the ratification of these laws, individual taxi drivers will pay a 25,000 dram state fine instead of the former 200,000 drams.
As press speaker for the Ministry of Transport and Communications Susanna Tonoyan told “A1+”, the law will probably be in effect next week. According to Tonoyan, the only extenuating point of this law is the 25,000 dram fine, but the yellow license plates, installation of meters and technical check-ups refer to both taxi services and individual drivers.
The Ministry and the police are taking a new measure before the law goes into effect. According to that, police officers pull taxi drivers over if they don’t have the yellow license plate. If it turns out that the driver is an individual taxi driver, the police give him a ticket and he is not fined. The tickets state what is required of the taxi drivers after the law goes into effect. For example, taxi drivers must come to the Ministry, register as individual entrepreneurs, receive their yellow state license plates and work in the taxing sector.
