NONPARTISAN BEATS HIS REPUBLICAN CHALLENGER

Local elections took place in the settlements of Odzun (Lori Marz) and Berd (Tavush Marz) on November 9.

Remind, the October 19 elections were recognised as invalid in both settlements.

Two candidates were running for the mayor of Berd - the incumbent Republican Mayor Andranik Sharyan and non-party candidate Hmayak Adamyan. Andranik Sharyan was reelected to the post with 2183 votes. His contender Hmayak Adamyan got 1978 votes.

According to the Central Election Commission the incumbent Republican Mayor Melik Ayvazyan lost to nonpartisan Arsen Titanyan in the village of Odzun. Titanyan and Ayvazyan respectively got 1314 and 1227 votes.
