TAKE JHANGIRYAN AS AN EXAMPLE
Support A1+!“Remembering October 27 and making any non-official statement is as dangerous today as it was nine years ago. Take Gagik Jhangiryan as an example,” announced today at the Kentron and Nork-Marash district general jurisdiction court former Deputy Prosecutor General Gagik Jhangiran, who found himself in one of the cells of the National Security Service a day after he expressed an opinion in Freedom Square on February 22 on the events of October 27.
“I was and still am of the opinion that the events of October 27 were systematically planned and that it is an extremely serious state crime. The current administration only punished the perpetrators, but quashed the cases of the accomplices with strict violations of the legislation,” said Gagik Jhangiryan. “The restart of the preliminary investigation, the revelation of all criminals and the punishment is left up to the future legitimate RA authorities. This is the only way that we can restore the faith of the Armenian people in justice and the state.”
After the statement the court continued Jhangiryan’s case based on the charge of violence against an authority figure. Witness of the defendant Samvel Hovhannisyan told the court how he accompanied Gagik and Vartan Jhangiryan on February 23, how they were attacked by a group of people dressed in black, how the men arrested, beat and fired at Gagik Jhangiryan and then beat Vardan Jhangiryan. When plaintiff Koryun Piloyan asked why he hadn’t gone to the police at the time of the attack, he replied: “There were police officers standing nearby; if they did were going to do anything, they would.”
The remaining witnesses hadn’t come to court again, but in order not to postpone the sessions and lose time, with the consent of both parties it was decided to make a change in the order of investigation, that is, hear the victims first and then the witnesses.
Gagik Jhangiryan solicited to let him not participate in the sessions when the victims were going to be questioned because he doesn’t want to hear “lies” and “obscene” testimonies.
Zhora Vardanyan denied that saying that that is legally prohibited and can only be done if Jhangiryan interferes in the court hearings.
The next session will take place on November 4 at 2 p.m.
