REPUBLICAN MAYOR REELECTED
Support A1+!Elections to the mayor of Vanadzor took place on October 19. According to the Central Election Commission over 50 percent of eligible voters participated in the vote. The Republican incumbent Mayor Samvel Darbinyan was reelected to the post with 16782 votes. Republican candidate Edward Khlghatyan got 5769 votes, Heritage Party member Garnik Sahakyan 2051 and HAMK member Senik Evinyan 894 votes. Non-party candidates Seiran Harutyunyan and Gagik Ghazaryan got 1690 and 894 votes respectively.
Heritage representatives visited all polling stations yesterday. Heritage MP Armen Martirosyan states all administrative levers were employed during the vote.
Asked whether any other candidate abused his power besides the incumbent mayor, Armen Martirosyan said, “Surely, all candidates holding high ranking posts employed administrative resources.”
The Heritage has also registered numerous misprints and inaccuracies on electoral rolls.
“In fact, the election doesn't comply with the democratic standards,” added the head of the Heritage faction.
