WHO HAS THE RIGHT TO GIVE UP LANDS?
Support A1+!“Who is he to give up lands?” said participant of the Artsakh war of Karabakh origin Violeta Grigorian today during a discussion held on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Whom do you mean? The question of “A1+” frustrated Mrs. Grigorian even more:
“I mean the person who leads negotiations on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.”
Mrs. Grigorian was 45 years old when she left her two children and got on a plane for Artsakh to participate in the war. She and the rest of the woman participants of the Artsakh war, including mothers and wives of the deceased had gathered today at the People’s Party of Armenia office to express concerns regarding the statements made by Serzh Sargsyan on the return of liberated lands and the current state of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“They shouldn’t play with fire. Our husbands and children died out there, but we are still living. Those who return the lands will deal with us,” promised the women. They reminded the authorities that 6,000 soldiers died during the Artsakh war.
NA deputy and member of the NA “Heritage” faction Larisa Alaverdian presented the legitimacy of the self-determination of the people of Karabakh and assured that it was established on the sidelines of all international norms, as well as the USSR legislation and can set an example for nations on the road towards self-determination. Mrs. Alaverdian is more concerned with the fact that not only have the RA authorities not recognized Karabakh’s independence, but also the legality of the people’s self-determination.
At the end of the discussion, the women made a statement:
“Today, those who have seized power in Armenia are trying to legitimize their status at the cost of Artsakh and the handover of liberated lands. In 1988, when Artsakh was in danger, Armenian women called on the Armenian people to protect the homeland. Today, we are once again calling on all of our brothers and sons to prevent and prohibit the appalling deal that the current authorities are trying to make.”
