ONLY SPECIAL ELECTIONS CAN EASE THE TENSION

Politics

“Special elections must be held in Armenia in no less than 1 and no more than 1.5 years’ time”, declared ex-member of the Dashnaktsutyun (Armenian Revolutionary Federation) Party, former RA Consul General to Saint Petersburg Ruben Hakobian.

In his opinion it is the only way to ease the atmosphere of mistrust and intolerance reigning in the country. And determination to declare special elections must be expressed by Serzh Sarkissian only.

However, before holding special elections the former and present RA Presidents should meet to discuss the impact of falsified elections on the economy and international standing of the country.

The division of the political sphere into 2 parts is unacceptable for Ruben Hakobian. “The Government has simply offered the opposition to Levon Ter-Petrossian and the latter is accurately sowing the field presented to him”, says Hakobian and adds: “In fact, there is a third side that is still waiting with caution.”

“That third side does not have leaders. It is not fully constructed yet and it is the thick crowd of those who share neither Ter-Petrossian’s nor Sargssian’s policy. These are people with noble ideas on sovereignty and power.” Ruben Hakobian is sure: “If no special elections are held we shall have to face even more severe consequences.”
