OMBUDSMAN WILL STILL RESPOND

Politics

Armenia’s Human Rights Ombudsman Armen Harutiunian hasn’t responded to the objections of the RoA Prosecutor’s Office to his special report on “the presidential election of February 19 and post-election developments.”

“Armen Harutiunian will refer to them after returning to Armenia,” said the head of Human Rights Defender’s personnel, former Minister of Justice Vahe Stepanian.

“We are already preparing answers to the objections. We shall agree to them if we find out any drawbacks in the report. It is a question of principle. “They had better give answers to some questions raised in the report instead of coming up with objections,” added Vahe Stepanian.

Reminder, the Procurator’s Office released a 15-page report with objections which holds in part,

“The Ombudsman’s report contains assessments on the activities of the Public Television and some political parties which do not stem from the status and powers of Human Rights Defender. The report contains biased, superficial and one-sided assessments, shortcomings and irrelevant interpretation.
