GROUPS OF PEOPLE STAYED OUTDOORS
Support A1+!Today Armenian civilians welcomed first President Levon Ter-Petrossian with loud applauses and shouts, “Levon, Levon.” A group of invitees didn’t manage to get into the building as all seats were already occupied and the hall was overcrowded. The second congress of the Popular Movement started at exactly 12.
“I haven’t got an invitation but I want to listen to the candidate I voted for during the Presidential election. Therefore I am here. Though I cannot enter the hall I shall applaud to Ter-Petrossian from here as a sign of support,” said 63-year-old Yerevan citizen Silvard.
“It doesn’t matter we are inside or outside the hall. The most important is that we fully back them and share their ideas,” said 45-year-old Sedrak.
Many people will be forced to streets because of recent rise in prices. Instead of meeting people halfway the authorities deepen public distrust pouring oil on the flames. I have been looking forward to this meeting since March 1. I wonder what solutions Ter-Petrossian will propose to this situation as we can no longer bear this mess,” he added.
Groups of policemen ensured public security in the yard. One could see minibuses full of policemen a few steps away.
Eventually, all presentees were let in to listen to Ter-Petrossian’s speech through loudspeakers.
