“NO BARRIER”
Support A1+!“Independence of Kosovo may serve as a precedent for the settlement of the NKR problem”, says politician Suren Zolyan. “Previously, there was a barrier against all facts in regard with self-determination. This was to take place with mutual agreement of the parties, thus, the frontiers could be changed, when two nations decided to live in different states, as in case of Chech and Slovakia, Serbia and Chernogoria, or in the result of a war, as in case of Haravslavia and Khorvatia”, he said. The politician also noted that it was for the first time in the territory of Europe that the frontiers were changed without the agreement of the concerned parties. “This should be regarded as a precedent from the legal point of view, but I consider that its implementation should be of political character”, he said. According to Mr Zolyan, the precedent of Kosovo independence may somehow reinforce the position of the NKR. “There is no logical explanation, the mentioned solution was given to Kosovo problem, but it cannot function in case of Karabakh”.
Suren Zolyan also stated, that in case negotiations with Azerbaijan reach a deadlock and the International community made sure that they could not reach consensus in the result of Azerbaijan’s negative position, they might make a decision and recognize the NKR. But Mr Zolyan considers that it’s too soon to make such conclusions. Taking into account the current developments, we should simply reinforce political, economic and military basis. According to Suren Zolyan the factor of population is the most decisive in this regard.
