“The Republic of Armenia deserves an intelligent, prudent and moral president”, announced leader of Conservative party Michael Hayrapetyan during the republican congress of powers supporting Levon Ter-Petrosyan. 17 political parties, more than ten NGOs and political initiatives expressed their readiness to support the RA First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan at the session hall of the RA Government. The hall was full. One could hear “Levon, Levon” slogans in the Government building.

“If we work properly, organized and purposefully, we will certainly win”, announced Stepan Demirchyan, Head of the “People’s Party of Armenia.” He was the first to make a speech during the congress. In his speech Levon Ter-Petrosyan talked about the powers supporting him, pointing out the immense role of the “People’s Party of Armenia” and its leader.

Chairman of the “All Armenian Movement” party Ararat Zurabyan, declared that Ter-Petrosyan’s victory was the victory of all Armenian nation, it was the victory of democracy and each RA citizen, since today the RA citizen is deprived of his main right to vote. He expressed hope that on 20 February the Armenian nation would mark not only the 20-th anniversary of the “All Armenian Movement” party, but also Ter-Petrosyan’s victory.

Chairman of the “Republican” party Aram Sargsyan quoted Vazgen Manukyan’s words, who said: “Instead of complaining of darkness, everyone should fight against darkness by lighting his candle”. Then Aram Sargsyan noted that “Kocharyan-Sargsyan couple” was denied since the day they were elected and today they were battling against Ter-Petrosyan, but the nation supported the one against whom “the couple” was fighting. “We are obliged to win for the fair solution of Karabakh problem, for the complete reveal of the 27 October crime, for the consolidation of democracy, for freedom, for the sake of the Republic of Armenia”. Aram Sargsyan declared that they would win, since all soldiers would vote for them: “They will vote for the commander of their victories”.

“We will win and release the country from trash”, announced Garnik Margaryan, chairman of the "Fatherland and Honour”" party. “We will win”, announced Chairman of the Armenian Marxist party David Hakobyan. He responded to reproaches as how a Marxist supported “a liberal knight. " "A nation is not a party affiliated", motivated David Hakobyan. Michael Hayrapetyan called the First President to “release the country from contamination and indignity”. Hayrapetyan considers that Ter-Petrosyan will be able to reach this objective with the help of those who have gathered at the session hall today.

Chairman of the “Freedom” party Hrant Bagratyan began analyzing economy with the contemplations that allegedly in 1998 when Kocharyan and Sargsyan came to power they established the roots of their economic clan and shared the economy between them. Ruben Torosyan, Chairman of the “Human Rights 1996” NGO declared that he used to criticizing Levon Ter-Petrosyan, but today being faithful to the principles of his party, he stood next to Levon Ter-Petrosyan which proved how democratic the latter was in fact. Torosyan also noticed that the only opposition leader who had moral rights to be nominated was Stepan Demirchyan, but the latter correctly estimated the situation and joined Ter-Petrosyan for the sake of the nation’s well-being.

Chairman of the “Democratic Way” party Manuk Gasparyan criticized Ter-Petrosyan’s policy for a number of times, but today he supported Ter-Petrosyan and pointed out: “The person who discredits Ter-Petrosyan, will have to account to me”.

Arman Musinyan talked on behalf of the youth organizations supporting the First President. He called all young people in Armenia to share the responsibility and return morality, law and right to the country. Nikol Pashinyan, one of the “Impeachment” leaders underlined the necessity of organized and productive cooperation. “100 percent chances to win is not a victory” and every spare minute, any torn leaflet and work that was not done properly would reduce the chances of their victory on 19 February. He called to unite as a team, fight for a victory without any expectation.

The participants of the congress welcomed Ter-Petrosyan with thunderous applause.
