Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev (born September 14, 1965) is a Russian politician and businessman. He was appointed first deputy prime minister of the Russian government November 14, 2005. Formerly Vladimir Putin’s chief of staff, he is also the chairman of Gazprom’s board of directors, a post he has held for the second time since 2000.
Dmitry Medvedev graduated from the Law Department of Leningrad State University in 1987. In 1990 he got his PhD in private law from the same university. He taught law at the same university for 9 years.
Dmitry Medvedev was designated vice-premier in 2005.
