KOCHARIAN: “THE MATTER SHOULDN’T BE SHIFTED TO THE POLITICAL DOMAIN”
Support A1+!Today President Kocharian announced that he hadn't known any political figure named Narek Galstian. “On the eve of elections people tend to regard the events happening in the country as political plots. I hadn't even heard about that figure. Obviously, if you stop passers-by and inquire whether they have heard of a Narek Galstian, few will give you a positive answer,” the President said.
Reminder, Narek Galstian, Chairman of the student movement "Sargis Tkhruni" (Social-Democratic Party Gnchak) was severely beaten November 15. He had been taken to the police department three days before for disseminating leaflets on the November 16 rally.
While speaking of yesterday's assault on Narek Galstian, Robert Kocharian said, “The matter has found deep resonance and was shifted to the political domain. In my opinion it was a mere everyday problem and the rumpus was needless.”
He says there have been a number of attempts to politicize non-political issues. “The government does not care for such scandals and their consequences. They soon will start writing letters to international organizations. People need opportunities, facts to denigrate the government. In the end it may turn out to have no political lining. I don’t know.”
